Coach-Mentor Training

Coaches are influential figures in children’s lives. The U.S. Soccer Foundation’s Coach-Mentor Training trains coaches to serve as mentors and create positive connections with youth. The result? A physically and emotionally safe and inclusive youth sports experience for everyone.

Through Coach-Mentor Training, you’ll learn:

  • How to be a mentor and a coach
  • How to create and embed a team code and culture that is consistently reinforced throughout the season
  • How to make, strengthen, and sustain connections with your team
  • How to manage behaviors with empathy
  • How to develop and harness the social and emotional skills of young people

The training also teaches coaches how to work effectively with youth in and from underserved communities and create a positive team culture that reflects the diversity of the youth they serve, which is critical when coaches work with young people of varying racial, gender, and socioeconomic backgrounds.

The free online training is designed for individuals serving as coaches in any sport and with intentional social-emotional learning components in partnership with National University’s Inspire program.
