National Youth Sports Week (NYSW) is more than a celebration. It’s a national movement to increase access, safety, and equity in youth sports. This week unites communities, leagues, and leaders behind one bold goal: Reach 63% youth sports participation by 2030, as outlined in the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services' Healthy People 2030 initiative.

October 6–11, 2025 | Celebrate. Protect. Grow.

Our Mission:

  • Celebrate people and programs creating positive sports experiences.
  • Protect youth through training and emergency preparedness.
  • Grow access and belonging for all young athletes.

Why It Matters
Only 50.7% of youth in the U.S. currently participate in sports. Our national movement is working to change that through coaching, safety, inclusion, and community action. Together, we’re contributing to a national target set by the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services to increase youth sports participation to 63% by 2030.

How We’re Driving Progress in 2025

  • 63 million minutes of youth physical activity
  • 6,300 coaches trained to lead with safety and purpose
  • 6,300 Emergency Action Plans shared to prepare for emergencies
  • 630 proclamations issued by local leaders to increase visibility and support

Every activation big or small moves us closer. Let’s reach 63% together.
